WHAT IT IS: An online platform that makes design simple for everyone.

WHY WE LIKE IT: Do you ever look at beautiful graphics and think “I wish I knew how to do that.” Well, thanks to Canva, now you can! Founded in 2012, this Australian startup is “empowering the world to design.” It has quickly captured the attention of users (and investors) globally and become the go-to graphic design tool for creating posters, invitations, social media posts, presentations, blog images, flyers, and more.

Canva makes it easy to design (and believe us—if we can do it, anyone can!) Yes, you too, can create stunning designs and documents with Canva’s drag and drop functionality. Plus with hundreds of fonts, thousands of layouts, and millions of images to choose from, the possibilities are endless. It’s a great tool for marketers, bloggers, small business owners, and really anyone who needs to create an impactful design.

We jumped on the Canva bandwagon early on and used it to make posters for our Twitter 101 classes. (See our very first creation here.) We’ll admit that it can take a little time to get up to speed, but thankfully, there are more than 30 tutorials that help get you up and running (and designing!) Clearly we were on to something as more than 8 million people and counting now use Canva.

HOW MUCH IT COSTS: Canva is free to use. You can purchase premium images for $1. The company also introduced Canva for Work in 2015, which is a paid subscription and can be used by companies of all sizes. Nonprofits can get a free subscription to this service.

NOW, TAKE THE FIRST STEP: Visit www.canva.com, check out their free library, and start designing. (But, be forewarned—you just might get addicted!) Your creations can be used online or in print. Need some inspiration? Take a tour and explore the designs others have created on Canva.
