WHAT IT IS: A short recap of the day’s big stories—delivered in the afternoon.

WHY WE LIKE IT: It’s no secret that we’re big fans of daily newsletters. We rely on many to start our day and keep us ‘in the know’ on business, tech, startups, and more. Our newest subscription is to The Pickup Line (no, not that kind!) What differentiates this newsletter is that it arrives every weekday afternoon just as the “rush hour” is beginning. The premise is that it lands in your inbox when you actually have a few minutes to catch up.

The Pickup Line is a short recap of the day’s big stories—hard news and lifestyle all curated in one place. It also includes favorite reads, recipes (in the  “What’s for Dinner Tonight?” section), playlists, and more.

Founded in September 2017, this newsletter is the creation of Patti Bennett and Beth Kneebone, friends who hail from the worlds of broadcast journalism and publishing. After taking time off to raise their kids, they recently collaborated to bring The Pickup Line to busy moms waiting in school and activity lines. While our carpool days are (mostly) behind us, we’re still busy people who can appreciate this late in the day pick-me-up. (BTW—if this sounds familiar, it is. We’re all for friends starting a newsletter that helps keep people smart and connected!)

Now that summer is officially here, The Pickup Line is offering a shorter summer vacation edition on Mondays through Thursdays. Here’s to starting the weekend on Friday!

HOW MUCH IT COSTS: It’s free. You can thank us later for improving your wait time.

NOW, TAKE THE FIRST STEP: Sign up for The Pickup Line at www.thepickupline.net, choose your time zone, and you’re good to go. You can also subscribe via text: simply text PICKUPLINE to 22828.
