WHAT IT IS: A company (actually, it is a ‘benefit corporation’) that allows artists to be “lifted” out of their personal situation/struggle through selling their art.
WHY WE LIKE IT: Art + Uplifted. The founder of ArtLifting worked with the homeless and disabled for years and realized that many of her ‘clients’ were talented and just needed a chance to work. ArtLifting is an outlet for people/artists/individuals facing/experiencing/living with homelessness and disability to sell their art. Through ArtLifting they keep part of the proceeds from their sold art.
The company sells original paintings, prints, and products that can be used in your home or office through their online marketplace. They also recently introduced a corporate art program that encourages companies to buy and display local artists’ works. Plus, they are exploring licensing opportunities and other creative ways to support and empower their artists.
HOW MUCH IT COSTS: Free to simply view the artists’ work and read their stories. If you choose to buy a piece you will be ‘lifting’ that artist!
NOW, TAKE THE FIRST STEP: Check out ArtLifting, subscribe to their newsletter, visit their site to browse the art and even look for a local show (they are already displaying art in 8 cities!)
P.S. We’re not the only fans! See what The New York Times and the Today Show have to say about ArtLifting.
